How to Gather Data from External Sources

Learn how to gather Data from External Sources in Forms for Confluence Cloud.

This page will guide you through the steps you need to go through to set up your Confluence to gather data from external users and/or non-Confluence users in certain spaces in your instance.

Note:

You have to be on at least a Standard Confluence plan and also be a Confluence admin to open up anonymous access to a Confluence instance.

  1. Login to your Confluence instance.
  2. Click Settings in the top right navigation.
  3. Scroll down and click Global Permissions from the left-hand menu.
  4. Click the Anonymous access tab.
Note: Once anonymous access is turned on, as default, any new spaces created are set to be not accessible by anonymous users as a safety measure.
  5. Click the Edit option and click to enable Anonymous users to Use Confluence.
  6. Create a new space within your instance that you wish to be viewable by people outside your org or non-Confluence users (i.e., customers)
  7. Click Space Settings → Space Permissionsfrom the left-hand menu.

Scroll to the Anonymous access section and click Edit permissions.

  8. Make your desired permissions changes and click Save all.
  9. Create a new form within this space and any other relevant pages.
  10. Share the URL to the page where you've created the form with anyone you'd like to fill it in.
  11. Anyone given the link can access the form and fill it in (without needing to create an Atlassian account or sign in).
  12. Responses are collected and appear as expected; the only difference is they are marked as Anonymous.
Note: The attachment option is not currently compatible with anonymous submissions.
