Table

The Table by Mosaic macro extends standard Confluence tables with powerful, interactive data controls. It enables in-table search, column filtering, and show/hide columns, improving data discoverability and making large tables easier to work with.

Table by Mosaic also supports chart generation directly from table data and customisable table styles, helping teams present structured information clearly and consistently.

By transforming static tables into flexible data views, the Tables by Mosaic macro allows teams to manage, explore, and understand complex datasets more efficiently in Confluence.

Add a Table Macro

  1. Navigate to the page you would like to edit.

  2. Click the Edit icon in the top-right of the page, or press `e` on your keyboard to display the page in Edit mode.

  3. Type /tables and select the Table by Mosaic macro. A Table macro is inserted into your page.

  4. Click inside the Table macro and either press the + button to insert a new table into the macro or copy and paste an existing table into the macro.

Tables can be copied from existing Confluence pages or directly from a spreadsheet.

  5. Press Publish. Once published, several table features are available, including Show/Hide columns, formatting options, search, chart creation, and filtering.

Edit the macro

Unlike most Mosaic macros, many editing options for the Table macro, such as showing or hiding columns, adding charts, and changing styles, are available after the page is published.

To change the data or to add or remove rows and columns:

  1. Open the page that contains the Table macro.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Update the table as needed.

Show/Hide columns

Once published, click the Eye button above the table to open the Show/Hide columns options. From this list, select/deselect columns to customise your view. Selected columns will show; deselected columns are hidden.

For large tables with many headings, use the Filter box to search for column names.

Charts

Create charts based on your table data with Table by Mosaic. The following chart types are available:

  • Pie
  • Bar
  • Line
  • Area
  • Doughnut
  • Scatter
  • Negative value
  • Radar

To add a chart based on your table data:

  1. Publish a table and click the Chart button above the table.

  2. Select a chart type from the list. The chart is inserted below the table.

  3. Select the data columns you wish to display on the chart from the Columns selected drop-down. Multiple columns can be selected. If multiple columns are selected, all data is displayed on one chart with a key (if required).

  4. Select which data you wish to display on the X-axis from the X-axis columns drop-down. This is limited to one column.
This option is not available for Pie, Doughnut, or Radar charts.

  5. To add another chart, press the Chart button again. A new chart is inserted directly below the last.

Moving an existing Confluence chart into Table by Mosaic can change how the chart is rendered. We recommend reviewing any migrated charts, as those created outside the macro are less editable than those built directly within the macro.

 Table Styles

Table customisation options are available by clicking the Paint Pallet icon once a table has been published. Here you can set the table theme colour, border shadow, border thickness, and rounded corners.

Table Search

The Search feature in Table by Mosaic lets you quickly find specific information, saving time and reducing frustration when working with large datasets. After publishing a table, enter a search term into the Search in table box to display only results that match the search term.

Searches are not saved when navigating away from the page and do not affect any created charts.

 Filtering

To filter by one or multiple table columns, hover over the header row and click the Filter icon. Select the value you wish to filter the column by.

Filters are not saved when navigating away from the page and do not affect any created charts.
