Egress Control
Egress controls let admins approve additional domains for Mosaic to load content from. This can include your company's internal tools, dashboards, and other trusted sources.
Some Mosaic features load content from external websites. If the source domain isn't approved, that content may not load.
You may need to approve a domain if:
- Content displays directly on a Confluence page but doesn't load inside a Mosaic macro.
- Embedded videos don't display correctly, including in full screen mode.
- Embedded links to Jira Data Center don't display after you migrate Confluence to Cloud.
For example, use CME to approve a domain for your company's knowledge base, video hosting service, or internal dashboard.
Approve a Domain
Accepted domain formats
You can enter domains using the following formats
| Format | Example |
|---|---|
| HTTPS URL | https://example.com |
| Subdomain | cdn.example.com |
| Wildcard | *.example.com |
Remove a single approval
- Open Mosaic Egress Controls
- Find the row for the domain and egress type.
- Click Remove.
- Review the warning and select Yes, remove.
Delete a domain group
- Navigate to Mosaic Egress Controls.
- Find the group.
- Click Delete group.
- Review the warning and confirm the deletion.
Domain limits
You can create up to 10 groups, with up to 10 unique domains per group.
Mosaic and your organisation share an allowance of 40 egress slots. Each domain and egress type combination uses one slot. For example, approving a domain for both Images and Media uses two slots.
Some slots are reserved for Mosaic functionality. Check Available slots to see how many remain.
If a Mosaic update takes the total above 40, existing approvals can exceed the allowance. You cannot add another approval until there is capacity within the 40-slot limit.
Uninstalling Mosaic removes all groups and domains. Reinstalling Mosaic does not automatically restore them.
Troubleshooting
If content still doesn't load after approval:
Check that the approved domain matches the source of the content. For example, content may load from
cdn.example.comrather thanexample.com. A wildcard such as*.example.comcan cover subdomains.Check that the domain uses a supported format.
- If the issue continues, contact support and include:
The Mosaic macro containing the content.
The domains you added in to egress management.
The URL of the content that isn't loading.
A screenshot of the issue.
