How to generate a Jira API token

This page shows how to create an API token from a Cloud source or a Server/DC source.

Сreate an API token from a cloud source

Create an API token from your Atlassian account:

  1. Log in to https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security/api-tokens.
  2. Click Create API token.
  3. From the dialog that appears, enter a memorable and concise Label for your token and click Create.
  4. Click Copy to clipboard, then paste the token to the specified field.

Сreate an API token from a server/DC source

Note: You can create and use personal access tokens in Data Center and Server editions of the Jira Software 8.14 and later.
  1. In Jira, select your profile picture at the top right of the screen, then choose Profile.
  2. Once you access your profile, select Personal Access Tokens in the left-hand menu.
  3. Select Create token.
  4. Give your new token a Name.
  5. Optionally, for security reasons, you can set your token to automatically expire after a set number of days.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Copy the created Token, then paste the token to the specified field.
