Two instances of the pagetree2 macro result in a neverending "Loading..." message

If I have two pagetree2 references on the same page, the page will not load.  Instead, I get an endless "Loading..." message.
Others have reported the issue, and a workaround is to disable Javascript.  That isn't an acceptable workaround in my case.  For now, I have to make due with making sure only one pagetree2 macro is present at any given time; this is difficult, as one resides in my theme, it basically outlaws the use on any space with that theme applied.

Is there any fix available, or has a bug report been filed?
