Modules consisting of uploaded media content are the building blocks for Learn for Jira Courses.

To create a module:

  1. Select Course Editor from the Lighthouse drop-down menu at the top-right of Jira.

You can only access the Content Management page if you have 'Course Create' or 'Course Admin' permission.
  2. Click the Create Content button in the banner of the Content Management page.

  3. Give your module a Name and Description, using the corresponding fields.

The module’s name and description are used in Learn for Jira’s search, so be sure to make them clear and concise.

  4. Select a Template, enter a Duration, and enter a URL for the content.

When creating or editing a module, you can restrict visibility and editing permissions. These permissions use Jira groups.

  5. Select the Create Module radio button, then click Create.

  6. The new module is created. It can now be added to a chapter, course, or learning path using the Course Editor.

Offline access

Learn for Jira modules can be viewed by users without an Internet connection, in some cases.

Upload content from a local web server, using the MP4 template, to use modules regardless of an Internet connection.

Most Internet browsers require modules to be rendered from https links for offline compatibility.

Modules created from http links will not be available without internet access in most cases.

Templates

It is important to select the correct template because that will determine how the content is displayed. It also determines the viewing options available for the module's content. Templates like YouTube and Vimeo include a full-screen viewing option for module content. The IFrame template includes a Theater Mode button, which expands module content without going full-screen.

Templates include:

  • YouTube

  • Vimeo

  • MP4
  • PDF

  • IFrame

  • Typeform
