This page contains answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. While Project Configurator for Jira Cloud was designed to make your life easier, challenges may still arise as you figure things out.

If you don’t find information you need here, don’t hesitate to reach out to Adaptavist support.

Q: I’m not a Jira Site Administrator. Can I still use Project Configurator for Jira Cloud?

A: Absolutely yes. We connect to your Jira Cloud instances using OAuth, so you can only access the project and configurations that your login allows. This means if you are a Project Admin then you can self-serve your project configurations without having to hassle your site admin.

Q: I can’t migrate the configurations that I’m interested in. What gives?

A: Unfortunately, not all configurations are supported yet. Read our page on supported object types to learn more.

The release notes page will update as new objects become available to use with the app.

Alternatively, you can use our Feedback page to let us know which configurations you would like to see us support next. We’ll be able to let you know directly as soon as they are ready to use.

Q: What Jira API scopes are used?

A: We connect to your Jira Cloud instance using OAuth 2.0 3-legged-OAuth (3LO) and utilise the following scopes:

  • Read Jira project and issue data, search for issues, and objects associated with issues like attachments and worklogs.

  • Create and edit project settings and create new project-level objects (e.g. versions and components).

  • Take Jira administration actions (e.g. create projects and custom fields, view workflows, manage issue link types).

  • View user information in Jira that the user has access to, including usernames, email addresses, and avatars.

  • Create and edit issues in Jira, post comments as the user, create worklogs, and delete issues.

  • Manage development and release information for third parties in Jira.

Read Atlassian's page on Scopes for Connect and OAuth 2.0 (3LO) apps for more information.

Q: Can I use any browser with Project Configurator for Jira Cloud?

A: Currently, we are optimized only for Google Chrome.

Q: Does Project Configurator for Jira Cloud support migrations between Jira Server/Data Center instances, and Jira Cloud instances?

A: Currently, this sort of cross-functionality is not currently supported. PC4JC is designed to connect Jira Cloud instances.

Q: Is there a version of Project Configurator for Jira Server and Data Center?

A: There sure is. You can find it on the Atlassian Marketplace.
